Expressive Arts Introductory Offer!

I am pleased to announce that you can book an Individual Expressive Arts Session for half-price if it's your first time!  Come to the relaxed, inspiring Stone Tree Studio near Dorset to explore your creativity with me through a variety of modalities such as creative writing, drawing/painting/printmaking, sculpture and more!  Expressive Arts helps you to express what you are feeling deep down inside and is a great release, outlet for emotions.  I am an Expressive Arts Facilitator, trained in 2008 from Fleming College and have conducted many creative workshops to individuals and groups.  Pictured here are some pieces people have made at my sessions.   The emphasis is on enjoying the process rather than what the completed piece looks like; suitable for all those who say they can't draw a straight line!  Please phone me, Elise, at 705 766-1382 or cell 705 783-0547 to book your introductory session which will be 1.5 hours and $45 (regularly $90 includes art materials used).

Happy New Years!

Happy New Years! To celebrate the arrival of 2013 I spent New Years Day printing up my hand carved stone-cut printing block of the upcoming Year of the Snake (coming February 10th).  Here is a photo of the soapstone block and one of the proofs.  I have sent 3 prints down to the Proof Studio Gallery in the Distillery District of Toronto for their 12th International Print Exhibition & Exchange "Year of the Snake 2013".  The Exhibition travels to 4 galleries from February to the end of April: PROOF Studio Gallery, OCADU, Ottawa School of Art, and Muskoka Place Gallery.  The unique thing about this show is that at the end the remaining prints are exchanged amongst the artists!

Celtic Cross Commission

I carved this Celtic Cross out of a 650 pound slab of Indiana Limestone. I might have removed 200 pounds or so. Needless to say we're hiring a couple of guys to help us with the installation on top of a rocky ridge on Lake of Bays next week. The part that will be visible above ground is 3 feet tall, 2 feet wide and 6 inch thick. I had to stand on top of my work bench to get a proper shot of the cross. My clients wanted a simple, rustic, and ancient looking piece. Indiana Limestone often grows a little moss so it will soon look like it's always been there.
